After a ten-year break, the spectacular Lithuanian School Students’ Song Festival “In Time. In Circle. Together” took place on 3–6 July, bringing together thousands of young performers from across the country. Two ensembles from Klaipėda Lyceum proudly represented the school at this remarkable celebration.
A special honour was bestowed upon Klaipėda Lyceum alumnus Emilijus Latakas, who was entrusted with carrying the sign bearing the name of Klaipėda during the festival’s opening parade from Independence Square to Cathedral Square. Last year, Emilijus graduated from the Lyceum after achieving the highest possible score in six national matriculation examinations and is now studying at the University of Cambridge.
Klaipėda Lyceum’s youth folk dance ensemble “Lyceum”, led by teacher Inga Palaitienė, performed in the Dance Day programme “Circle after Circle.” The Lyceum Choir “Lyceum”, conducted by teacher Aušra Niparė with accompanist Gėja Žižiūnienė, took part in the Song Day concert “In Time. In Circle. Together.”
The Lithuanian School Students’ Song Festival is far more than an outstanding cultural event. It is one of the most meaningful lessons in civic engagement, fostering a sense of community, respect for tradition, and responsibility for preserving Lithuania’s rich cultural heritage.
This year’s festival brought together more than 24,000 participants from across Lithuania, including choirs, folk dance groups, and wind orchestras.
We are proud that the Klaipėda Lyceum community was part of this exceptional celebration, contributing its talent, dedication, and hard work to one of Lithuania’s most treasured cultural traditions.
We are especially delighted that on 14 July, the leaders of Klaipėda Lyceum’s participating ensembles will be awarded Lithuanian School Students’ Song Festival medals by Klaipėda Mayor Arvydas Vaitkus, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to this unique national celebration.
