Integrity
To strive for every child of Klaipėda Lyceum to be a personality, eager to learn, able to create, distinguished by achievements.
Self-sufficiency. We believe that every child’s intellectual growth starts with the ability to find their own solutions, to have their own opinions, to listen to others and to seek consensus.
Klaipėda Lyceum operates in three buildings in the city of Klaipėda.
Learners study in a modern, up-to-date environment that meets the highest international standards. The school has specialised classrooms, a science laboratory, robotics and engineering laboratories, and creative spaces for music and art. Classrooms are equipped according to the children’s educational needs and curriculum requirements. The school has sports and choreography classes, as well as auditoriums for theatre classes and events.
Learning takes place not only in classrooms, but also in other spaces designed for education: the newly equipped library – reading room named after Franciscan Friar Sigitas Benediktas Jurčys, the unconventional educational space Avilys, and the halls of the school decorated with paintings by professional artists. The school regularly exhibits the works of professional artists – the unique Klaipėda Lyceum Painting Gallery, which is being renewed, creates an exceptional artistic educational environment.
For small and elementary school learners, the teaching classes are tailored to their needs. For the very youngest children, the educational spaces were designed to resemble a home environment, while the classrooms for primary school learners are more like academic environments. Classrooms are divided into floors by grades, so that learners of the same age study on the same floor. Classrooms have a lot of didactic materials and learner works. Primary school learners have access to a range of specialised classrooms. The robotics lab is a favourite among learners. The school has playful interactive spaces for active and relaxed recess. For the very youngest children, there is an enclosed courtyard and seaside for outdoor activities and fresh air. Older learners can have both classes and various recreational activities during breaks and after school in the large school ground.
Schoolchildren are systematically offered non-traditional education days, including excursions throughout Lithuania, visiting museums, galleries, parks, businesses and organisations. Learners systematically attend cultural events in the city and in other cities in the country and abroad.
Changing the learning environment contributes to the educational process, provides more opportunities for experiential activities, makes teaching (learning) more interesting, and stimulates the cognitive activity.
Klaipėda Lyceum offers an accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme for the final year of secondary school for learners in Grades 11-12 (III-IV). TB is a programme characterised by high academic requirements, balanced educational content and reliable assessment – helping learners to prepare properly for higher education studies and further life. The International Baccalaureate Diploma is recognised and valued by the world’s top universities.
The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) was founded in Geneva in 1968. The IBO currently has 2,580 member schools in 134 countries worldwide.
