Klaipėda Lyceum invites students to study in the 1st-5th grade/6-10th grade/ 11-12th secondary school grade International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes.

 

Cambridge, Oxford, Stanford, Aarhus Universities – these are but a few of the world-renowned Universities where the IB diploma is held in high regard.

 

The Programme is recognized in over 2000 thousand Universities in the world.

 

The IB Diploma opens up doors to new opportunities of receiving large discounts on the cost of tuition, Degree credits, stipends, and other kinds of benefits that are related to being accepted and attending some of the best Universities in the world.

Klaipėda Lyceum has received it’s authorization as a Middle Years Programme school. These are schools that share a common philosophy- a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Klaipeda Lyceum believes is important for our school.

KLAIPĖDA LYCEUM ORDER OF ADMISSIONS AND PROGRAMME PRESENTATIONS

  • Admissions into 11th grade. No dates for new students. Students who are currently enrolled 15th March, 2023, 5 p.m. (Kretingos st. 44)
  • Registration for presentations for new potential students is done through www.klaipedoslicejus.lt/registracija

THE MAIN DAYS OF ADMISSIONS (TO 1st, 5th, 6th MYP grade, 9th, 11th GRADES)

  • Students and parents can apply to attend Licėjus at these stages of matriculation up to 31st March, 2023, electronically (after the presentation, attended by the new and current students the attendees will be sent a link);
  • Students, who wish to study in Klaipėda Lyceum, are given tests that test the knowledgeability of the students and diagnostic tests that help establish the current level the students are at. These tests also help plan for additional study needs the students might have - to assess how much help might the student need to fill in the knowledge and skill gaps.
  • Klaipėda Lyceum is a school that does not have a selective process, which means it accepts students as long as there is space in the classroom.
  • The entrance exam results only influence the decision to give a Klaipėda Lyceum student a stipend.
  • The testing will be conducted on 1st April, 2023 (Saturday) 10 a.m. (only for new students, and currently metriculating students who wish to attend IB DP classrooms, but have not studied in an IB classroom just yet) - Kretingos st. 44, Klaipėda.
  • The tests taken are - a Lithuanian language test, Mathematics test and an English language test (this test is only given to those students that wish to study in an International programme, except students who wish to attend bilingual studies and pre-IB classes).
  • Those invited to take the tests will be on a list, compiled by 15th April, 2023, that will be sent to the students’ parents with an invitation to attend Klaipėda Lyceum; The learning contract is signed till 30th April, 2023.

ATTENTION TO STUDENTS IN 9th-12th GRADES!

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme a type of learning, conducted in 11-12th grades and is recognized all over the world.
  • Students are invited to join Pre-IB classes in 9th and 10 grades.
  • An IB diploma helps with admissions into any of the world’s best Universities.
  • Teaching is done in English.
  • There is a wide array of subjects to choose from.
  • Learning in a multicultural environment.
  • The learning contract is signed till 30th April, 2023.
  • Fostering leadership qualities and encouragement for improvement.

ATTENTION TO THE LEARNERS 5-10 grades!

  • IB PYP (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme) is designed for students attending 1st-5th grades
  • IB MYP (International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme) is designed for students attending 6th-10th grades
  • Future fifth graders are invited into prep programmes for the IB PYP bilingual study programmes
  • The learning and teaching is conducted in Lithuanian-English languages. English language is integrated into all subjects
  • Students learn how to properly study, explore, how to use critical thinking skills, analyze, argue, form ideas, to explore through experimentation, make clear comments, communicate, be creative, read, be curious, use and read outside sources when analysing different events and constructs, to interpret, etc.

KLAIPĖDA LYCEUM STIPEND FOR GREAT STUDYING!

Students, as they apply to the 9th grade, can be provided with Klaipėda Lyceum stipends (a stipend that covers the cost in full or in part is not provided to cover the cost of participating in an IB programme) if they are the top students in their class (the stipend can be annulled on the account of the school principal, if a student is reported not abiding by the school rules of conduct the stipend can also be review at the end of the IInd secondary-school grade)

ADMISSION STAGES:

  • registration (online);
  • interview with a communication specialist;
  • test of knowledge, skills and understanding;
  • informing the learner's parents about the test results;
  • motivational interview with the school principal;
  • announcement of results;
  • submitting the application and signing the contract.

NECESSARY DOCUMENTS:

  • application;
  • copy of the child's birth certificate or passport;
  • two photos of the child for documents;
  • child's health certificate;
  • assessment of achievement and progress from the former school;
  • certificates of academic achievement (competitions, Olympiads, etc.);
  • motivation letter (for applicants for the Klaipėda lyceum scholarship, for those participating in a social project).

TUITION FEE INCLUDES:

  • learner's activities and education according to individual needs from 7:30 to 17:30;
  • lessons according to the basic and bilingual (Lithuanian-English) curriculum; English lessons held 5 times a week. English is integrated into the content of every subject;
  • extra lessons based on the curriculum of your chosen field of study and increase in the number of some lessons in different grades;
  • regular tutorials in the core subjects according to the timetable (before and after classes);
  • classes based on advanced curricula;
  • individual programmes for gifted and talented children;
  • preparing learners for Olympiads and competitions in science, sport and arts;
  • research activities;
  • individual and group counselling upon the learner's return to school after illness, in case of temporary learning difficulties;
  • comprehensive assessment of the child's individual progress 2 times during the school year;
  • psychological counselling;
  • individual interviews with teachers and child support professionals

IB DB COST OF THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE IN 2023–2024

  • EUR 620 per month with 10 instalments per year + additional programme fee EUR 150 per month with 10 instalments per year.

ADDITIONAL FEES

  • 50 EUR – knowledge, skills and perception test;
  • A one-off entrance fee of EUR 1000 is payable upon entry. Once the entrance fee is paid, the learner is added to the school's register of learners. The entrance fee is a one-off and non-refundable. It includes admission procedures, textbooks, curricula, preparation of the learner's workplace, etc.
  • Additional individual and group tutoring in academic subjects as needed to address a learner's learning gaps, according to a plan for additional support for the child discussed in advance with the learner's parents;
  • Additional sessions with a psychologist (if needed);
  • Field trips, some classroom and school events. Personalised learning resources ordered by the school: Foreign language teaching aids, exercise books for various subjects, physical education and choreography outfit, etc.
  • Entry fees for certain competitions, Olympiads, contests;
  • Catering.

DISCOUNTS ON TUITION FEES

  • If one or more children of the same family are enrolled in the Klaipėda Lyceum and pay tuition fees, the enrolment fee and the annual tuition fee are reduced by 20% for the second and subsequent children.
  • If a child attending the Klaipėda Lyceum receives a Lyceum scholarship, a second child of the same family is not eligible for the tuition discount.
  • The tuition fee may be reduced at the parents' request due to significant financial circumstances of the family. The reduction of tuition fees is considered by a special Lyceum commission.

KLAIPĖDA LYCEUM SCHOLARSHIPS

Klaipėda Lyceum scholarships are awarded to learners in Grades 9-10. Scholarships are awarded for a full or part of the basic tuition fee (EUR 5500 per year). Scholarships are awarded to learners on the basis of their academic achievements after the end of Grade 8 (trimesters I–II), their academic achievements in Olympiads and competitions, and the results of the Klaipėda Lyceum’s knowledge tests.

SUPPORT – SCHOLARSHIP, ACCOMMODATION, MEALS – FOR LEARNERS FROM DISADVANTAGED FAMILIES IN REGIONAL TOWNS

Klaipėda Lyceum runs a social project to enrol highly motivated, high-achieving young people from disadvantaged families in regional towns and cities to study at the Lyceum. For these learners, we provide Klaipėda Lyceum scholarships, accommodation and meals. Those wishing to take part in the competition must additionally submit a motivation letter for studying at the Klaipėda Lyceum.
