From September 23 to October 2, a team of students and teachers from Klaipėda Lyceum visited Nantes, France, continuing the long-standing international exchange programme with the La Joliverie school community. This year’s exchange programme focused on discovering France through its culture and art. The students visited art museums and galleries, explored historical and architectural sites, and learned about different forms of art and France’s rich cultural heritage.
In Nantes, the students stayed with French host families, attended classes at La Joliverie and took part in joint activities with French students. They explored the city, visited the Nantes Art Museum and discovered its historical and cultural sites. During the weekend, spent with their host families, the students had the opportunity to experience French everyday life and lifestyle more closely.
During their stay in Nantes, the students also visited the iconic Mont-Saint-Michel, renowned for its distinctive architecture and history, as well as the walled old town of Saint-Malo. These visits gave them an opportunity to discover the cultural heritage of the Brittany region.
After a week in Nantes, the journey continued to Paris. There, the students visited the Fragonard Perfume Museum and explored the architecture and history of the impressive Palais Garnier (Grand Opéra). On their final day, at the Musée de l’Orangerie, they admired Claude Monet’s famous Nymphéas (Water Lilies) series, as well as works by other renowned artists.
The exchange programme gave students the opportunity not only to improve their foreign language skills and make new friendships, but also to discover French culture through art, architecture, history and everyday life.We sincerely thank the teachers, students and families of La Joliverie for their warm hospitality, care and the wonderful time we spent together.
The students of Klaipėda Lyceum were accompanied by project coordinator A. Niparė and English teacher L. Šmaižienė.
