You are being invited to the cornerstone-laying ceremony of the new Klaipėda Lyceum Kindergarten

Klaipėda Lyceum has begun construction of a new kindergarten, which will also include a modern Child Health Center. On October 7 at 11:00 AM, a ceremonial cornerstone-laying and time capsule signing for future generations will take place.

A unique project not only in Klaipėda

In a scenic location in Klaipėda (90 Kretingos Street), near the Dangė River and the Botanical Garden of Klaipėda University, construction of a three-story modern kindergarten and Child Health Center of Klaipėda Lyceum began this summer.

The new facility will accommodate around 70 children of preschool and pre-kindergarten age (a total of 10 educational groups). The nursery groups will accept children starting from one year old.

According to Dr. Regina Kontautienė, Director of Klaipėda Lyceum, the nursery and pre-kindergarten classes currently operating at the Little Klaipėda Lyceum (Charlotte Street 6, Dragūnai Quarter, Klaipėda) will move to the new premises on Kretingos Street. New groups will also be formed. Elementary classes of the Lyceum will continue to study in the current Little Klaipėda Lyceum facilities in Dragūnai Quarter.

Dr. R. Kontautienė explains that the motivation behind this exceptional project was to provide the youngest Lyceum students with the most favorable conditions for comprehensive development from an early age.

About 40 education specialists will work at the new kindergarten on Kretingos Street. A modern Child Health Center will also operate on-site. Through this project, we aim to provide our youngest students with optimal conditions for not only intellectual but also physical and psychological development. Children will be educated according to the British system, where early pre-kindergarten education starts at age 4, and playful learning dominates throughout the entire educational process. This is truly a unique project, not only in Klaipėda but in the context of educational institutions across Lithuania,” says Dr. R. Kontautienė.

Providing health services for the city as well

The new Child Health Center at Klaipėda Lyceum Kindergarten will feature a salt room, swimming pool, multisensory room, and gym. Services will include massages, inhalation therapy, and sessions with physiotherapists, psychologists, speech therapists, and music therapists.

The services of the new Child Health Center will be widely available, not only to Lyceum students but also to families throughout the city.

For several years, students of Little Klaipėda Lyceum have had access to various health and rehabilitation services. The institution has officially been granted the status of a health-promoting educational establishment. The new infrastructure will allow us to take health services to a new level. Moreover, these services will be accessible not only to Lyceum students but also to other children in Klaipėda. We will likely be the first educational institution in Lithuania to offer health services on such a scale,” says Dr. R. Kontautienė.

Operations planned to start in September 2026

Project development has been entrusted to the company Hiltus. The total project value is estimated at approximately €3 million. The new Klaipėda Lyceum Kindergarten with Child Health Center is set to open in September 2026, under the leadership of the newly appointed Kindergarten Director, Aušra Kairienė.
