Future Teachers from the Netherlands Visit Klaipėda Lyceum

On October 22, eleven 4th-year students from Driestar Christian University in the Netherlands, specializing in primary education, visited Klaipėda Lyceum.

The students actively participated in the daily activities of the lyceum. They conducted lessons in moral education, chess, English, theatre, physical education, and music. They even tried their hand at teaching Lithuanian. The students enjoyed taking part in a presentation about the Netherlands prepared by the visiting students, asking many questions about Dutch life, its people, bicycles (more than the number of Dutch!), windmills, tulips, and Dutch songs. Most importantly, there was plenty of laughter, games, and dancing.

During the day’s debriefing, the students praised the excellent English skills of our 3rd–4th grade pupils and were surprised that the lyceum offers chess lessons. Teacher Šarūnė organized so many fun dances that the visitors’ impressions of Lithuania would last long.

The students and their accompanying supervisors commended the professionalism of our teachers and their classroom management skills. They were interested in our school’s goals and achievements. Teachers Deividas and Greta shared more about the values and traditional activities of the Klaipėda Lyceum community.

As in previous years, we were pleasantly surprised that nearly one-third of the visiting students were male.

We thank the LCC exchange program coordinators for providing the opportunity to develop cross-cultural exchanges.
