Students of Klaipėda Lyceum participated in the regional English-language debate tournament for students in grades I–IV of gymnasium, “Pajūrio taurė” (Seaside Cup)

The school was represented by:

M. Kazlauskas (II MYP C)

K. Safronov (II MYP C)

B. Barkauskaitė (II MYP A)

M. Rastenis (II MYP A)

E. Vekteris (II MYP A)

S. Leščiūtė (II MYP A)

Klaipėda Lyceum MEPA Ambassador M. Kazlauskas brought students together into teams and initiated their participation in the tournament.

The debate rounds were organized at “Varpas” Gymnasium by young Klaipėda MEPA Ambassadors in cooperation with the Foreign Language Teachers’ Methodological Group. This year’s debate motion, “THW should introduce carbon credits for individuals,” encouraged students to discuss climate change, personal responsibility, and sustainable solutions.

The debates provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen students’ English language skills, critical thinking, and environmental awareness. Although this was our students’ first time participating in this tournament, based on the total points scored, we achieved 3rd place and returned with the highest number of diplomas.

We are especially proud of the students who were selected as the best speakers of the tournament.

Individual achievements of the Lyceum team:

S. Leščiūtė (II MYP A) – 1st place

M. Rastenis (II MYP A) – 3rd place

K. Safronov (II MYP C) – 4th place

The students’ preparation for the debates was coordinated by English language teacher L. Šmaižienė
