Moments of the German Language Week

For the third year in a row, our students are participating in an initiative organized by the Goethe Institute, which encourages them to rediscover the German language and culture. This year, students from grades 6 to 10 explored the personality of Taravos Anikė – as a historical symbol and a woman who is an inseparable part of Klaipėda. They artistically and creatively interpreted Anikė through language, history, culture, and modern media, trying to imagine how she would perceive the world today.

The students created portraits of Anikė, an Instagram account, posters, short films, and presentations – depicting how Anikė would view the world today. Additionally, an 8th-grade student baked and treated the class to authentic German Brezel buns – a real treat!

We sincerely thank KU lecturer Dr. Silva Pociūtė and the author of “Raudonos plytos,” Edita Valinčienė, for their fascinating and inspiring lectures, which helped students gain a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural context.

We also thank all the students for their active participation in the interdisciplinary project “O kaip vokiškai?” organized by German language teacher Vaida Kazlauskienė, as well as teachers Milda Kontrimė, Inga Palaitienė, Deimantė Jasčenkaite, and Vaiva Jameljanova. Thank you for your initiative, creativity, and for inspiring the students!

The German language is alive, creative, and close – it just needs to be rediscovered! See you next year! 🇩🇪
