Advent Pilgrimage in the Jubilee Year

On a foggy and chilly morning of December 4th, students of the National Program Grade II from Klaipėda Lyceum, accompanied by their homeroom teachers Remigijus Oželis and Svetlana Rybakova, set out on an “Advent Pilgrimage in the Jubilee Year” to Telšiai. This year, the Church is celebrating the Jubilee Year, so the students visited Telšiai Cathedral of St. Anthony of Padua and the Telšiai Bishop Vincentas Borisevičius Seminary, where they listened to an engaging talk by Vicar General Fr. Vilius Viktoravičius and took part in an educational program.

After having lunch together with the seminarians, the students continued their journey through Telšiai with a guide, Andrius Dacius, who spoke in the Samogitian dialect. They listened to interesting facts about the history of the city, counted bears – the symbol of Telšiai – and stopped by the Telšiai gallery of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where they viewed D. Trumpys’ exhibition “Wasting Time.”

During this trip, the students were able to discover new cultural landmarks, connect with the history of the city, and grow spiritually. It was incredibly exciting to admire the unique architecture of Telšiai, its landscapes, and see Lake Mastis surrounding the city. The trip left a deep impression. The city, veiled in fog, patches of snow here and there, Christmas decorations, the Christmas tree being decorated, the grayish lake, and cheerful company – all reminded of the approaching holidays and allowed everyone to enjoy the anticipation of Advent. What a wonderful way to begin this magical season through togetherness!
