A team of students and teachers from Klaipėda Lyceum visited France

From September 24 to October 3, a team of students and teachers from Klaipėda Lyceum visited France, in the city of Nantes. We continued our four-year-long exchange program with the students of La Joliverie School.

The students had the opportunity to participate in classes, learn about the school’s activities, and present their country. At La Joliverie’s Arts department, Baccalauréat Sciences et Technologies du Design et des Arts Appliqués, various study programs and creative fields were presented, along with students’ works, and information about educational opportunities at this center.

During the visit, French students guided us around the city, introducing us to the most famous landmarks and popular tourist spots in Nantes. We visited the impressive Château des Ducs de Bretagne, a medieval castle where the Dukes of Brittany once resided. Today, the castle houses a museum and is famous for its beautiful defensive towers and water moat.

We also visited the Nantes City Hall, where city officials presented the city’s history and the modern life of the city. Another remarkable experience was the visit to Les Machines de l’île, one of the most famous tourist attractions in Nantes, where art, engineering, and fantasy merge in enormous moving machines inspired by the works of Jules Verne and Leonardo da Vinci’s inventions.

At the end of the trip, the students traveled to Paris, where they visited the Fragonard Museum, the Grand Opéra, and got acquainted with the building’s architecture, history, and cultural significance for the city.

We would like to sincerely thank the French teachers, students, and their families for their care and support throughout the entire trip.
The Lyceum students were accompanied by project coordinator A. Niparė and English teacher L. Šmaižienė.
